London Marathon Countdown

Well, the London Marathon is here ... well, will be on Sunday morning.

Looking through my training log, I can tell you that more than 100 hours of training have been put into this since New Years Day – logging more than 1000 miles of running and cycling up to this point.    I’ve lost more than 10lbs in weight (well, until the taper started and the carbohydrate loading began anyway!), given up alcohol and achieved a half marathon PB along the way.  I’ve spent a fortune on new kit, super-cool gadgets, lucozade sport and jelly babies, lost one toe nail and soothed numerous blisters and aching limbs.

Why?

Well, as well as the London Marathon being a huge personal ambition of mine, it is a massive opportunity to raise money for good causes.  I'm running this event to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of a dear work colleague, friend and special lady, Kath Lawrenson, who passed away recently.  With your help, we have managed to raise more than £1,700 so far.  Many, many thanks to those of you who have contributed to this.  With only a few days to go until ‘race’ day, I would really like to appeal to you and ask you to make a contribution if you can.  Donating is really easy.  You can go to my justgiving page and donate online (www.justgiving.com/bryanriley), send a cheque through to me or pledge an amount which I can collect off you at a later date.  I really, really appreciate your support with this.

BBC are covering this event as always.  I think coverage starts at 8.30am on Sunday.  Tune in and be inspired – you never know, it could be you next year!
